Penang (Jawi: ڤولاو ڤينڠ) is a state in Malaysia located on the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia, on the edge of the Straits of Malacca. It consists of two parts: a main island of the same name on which the capital George Town is located, and Seberang Perai on the Malay Peninsula. The two parts are physically connected by the Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge. The state borders Kedah to the north and east and Perak to the south.
