Perak or its official name, Perak Darul Ridzuan (Jawi: ‏ڤيراق دار الرضوان‎‎) is located on the west coast. Perak shares land borders with the states of Kedah to the north, Penang to the southeast and northwest, Kelantan to the northeast, Pahang to the east and southeast, Selangor to the south and the Straits of Malacca to the west. The state of Perak also shares international borders with the Yala and Narathiwat provinces of Thailand, to the north.
